Your kind of women.

Less networking. More people you can actually be yourself with.

You can know a hundred people and still have nobody to call when something wonderful happens. Start with the kind of connection you miss: a friend to celebrate with, a thoughtful collaborator, or someone who understands a change you are making. These are different invitations.

Choose one shared activity instead of an open-ended promise to meet. A walk, an exhibition, a conversation over breakfast. A small invitation makes it easier for both people to decide whether they want to continue.

Afterwards, notice how you felt. Could you finish a thought? Was curiosity mutual? Did you leave with more energy? A beautiful circle is built through attention, boundaries and repeated small acts, not a contact count.

Make an invitation someone can answer

A warm invitation needs a little shape: what you would enjoy doing, roughly when, and how much time it takes. Choose something you would enjoy even without a remarkable conversation. You are offering a shared moment; neither person needs to arrive with an impressive story or a useful contact.

For example: ‘I am going to the exhibition on Saturday around eleven. Would you like to join me for an hour? Another time is fine too.’ If you want to discuss a project, say so before you meet. A social invitation and a request for professional help ask different things of the other person.

Let the connection find its pace

After a good meeting, follow up on something specific you shared: a book you discussed, a question you wanted to return to, or another walk. Keep personal stories within the conversation unless you have permission to share them. Small acts of consideration make a next meeting easier to imagine.

One slow reply tells you little. Look over time at whether you both initiate, listen and make room for each other. If your invitations repeatedly go unanswered, you can leave the door open and put your attention elsewhere. Some connections stay occasional; they do not have to become close friendships to be welcome in your life.

A SMALL PLACE TO BEGIN
